Carmine Groe, LonelyWhat makes this photograph different from any other work you have seen? What makes this particular image thought-provoking? What type of composition is being used?
This online blog has been created to enhance the communication between students during the artmaking process. While working on a photographic work and upon completion, students will post their images and wait for comments from their fellow peers, teacher, and other registered users. This blog will also be used as a venue to discuss historical and contemporary works by artists from around the world.

this image looks different to me, because it looks more like a painting, with its vibrant colors. The image is thougth provoking because theres so much going on in the image, its hard what message the artist is trying to send. "lonely" is written on the door looking things...and there is a man in the opening of the doors, maybe he is the subject that is lonely..types of composition in this piece include leading lines and thirds.
What makes this different from the other photographs I've seen is the color of the wall and door. The face inbetween the doors prevokes my thought because it looks like a young boys face. I want to know why he is there behind doors with graffiti all over them. I honestly did not realize there was a face there until I did a second round of viewing the photograph. I would say the composition is leading lines.
A main difference would be the person's face in between the two doors. Most photos similar to this don't tend to have an element such as that. It just makes you wonder what the artist's intentions were for including the face. It's symmetrically balanced and uses the rule of thirds.
This photo is different because even with all the graffati on the walls around the man in the center of the image, it claims a "lonley" presence. It's a really creepy photo and i don't think i've ever had to analyze anything like this.
This image is really makes me think because of the fact that theres a man in the middle of all the nonsense around him. It gives me so many stereostypes and ideas.
FRAMING is definetly the composition.
(omg how do you spell "defintely")
i love this photo because of all of the graffiti. it makes the photo look so urbanized (is that a word?!)but then i look between the doors and see a little boy just staring at me, which is creepy. but then it makes me wonder why the little boy is by himself in this urban setting
i think this composition is framing because of the way the doors are around the face.
This picture looks very neat to me because the photographer took and made a piece of art out of another piece of art. The colors of the grafiti painting are very outstanding and the nightlight adds a lot to it. I definitely agree with what Tricia said and that is not knowing what the message of the picture is trying to show, but it looks like something very lonely. I am really not sure what type of composition this is.
this image scares me.
the guy in the door is really creepy and i would like the picture a lot better without him there. the colors are really awesome.
This picture is much more colorful than the other ones weve been doing lately, or maybe its just the contrast between the black page. The impression im kind of getting is that the person who wrote the grafitti is really trying to get their thoughts out, like hes fiery inside trying to get it out.
This image is really creepy. Its all pretty much in one shade of color. I think the composition being used is the rule of thrds. the door divides into three parts. This image reminds me of egypt and pyramids because of the colors.
This image, to me, is a true work of art. it makes you look all over the picture to look at all the words and styles of graffitti. The face that you see in the door adds a truely eerie sense to the picture.
It is different to me because it is 3-D. There is so much going on in this image and so many different colors are used. I think that the images message is that he doesn't know where he fits in with people and social groups and the only place that he knows where he fits in is in between these walls, and thats where he feels most comfortable. I don't really like this image. I think there is too much in the image.
This photo is creepy but i liked it tho becuase i like the scary pictures. it seems this man who on the center of image is a ghost. What makes this different is color and the random man stand by the doors. I think the photographer just caught a ghost on the picture or something like that...this picture is really interested because all of the bad(beep) graffiti and the ghost guy. :]
It's different because it doesn't look like a normal photograph. The photograph looks exactly like a painting, with the different colors and varities of organes. The image has different things going on. From the different shades of organe to the writings on the wall. I think on the compostition of the photograph is the framing of the words to the wall and door and the colors.
What really makes this image stand out from others is the hue of it. It's more of a sepia, when most images are in full color or black and white. The composition is definitely balanced. It is very symmetrical as the doors are both opened the same degree. What I first saw was the doors and the graffiti on the walls/doors. I noticed "lonely" is posted on the door and when I looked closer, I saw a man looking from behind the doors straight at me. This then, has a more sad mood.
This picture isnt art of the photographer; its graffitti. The image is scary, to me. I look at this and i think of the gates of hell you hear about or see in movies... especially because the guy has his head showing between the two doors, and thats it- just his face. Hes also not smiling, or looking cheerful, he has a straight face and it looks like hes totally serious about what hes feeling, like he doesnt care about anyone or anything. i think the composition is balanced because of the two doors and the gap between them, it splits the picture proportionally.
The thing that makes this photograph different from the rest are the colors. The other photos just use the basic white, black, green, and so on... But this photo has color that just POPS! out. This image totally makes sense. You have like this boy who is all alone in like a shattered shelter. I would tell you the composition, but i totally forgot what that word means......oopppsss!
The image is different from most photographs because there is so much going on. It's hard to focus in on one thing. My eyes are constantly moving around. After looking at it for a few minutes there are two things that stick out to me. One is the word "lonely" written on the door. The second thing is the guy looking through the door has an expression of lonliness on his face. That leads me to believe the meaning behind the image is lonliness.
This pic really spooks me out! Seems like the gates of hell confront you with the devil waiting for you to enter. You probably have to solve the riddle embedded in the graffiti to be treated to the devil's party. Spoooooky stuff!!!!! After staring at the image for litterally hours on end, I can tell you there is more than meets the eye, the riddle has been solved and I await a sign from Satan as to the location where we may meet.
This is what photography is all about folks!
Use the key and unlock the door, if you dare...
