I want you to take a look at the work of contemporary artist Andy Ducett. Go onto his website and take a look at his biographical information and uTube videos. Once you read up on the artist, click on collages and then choose one photo collage to discuss. Please upload the specific image that interests you in your post. While you are writing about the work, I would like you to talk about why you chose that piece. What was it about that image that sparked your attention?

The image I have chosen is a polaroid photograph that features a grouping of five people. Collaged on top of the polaroid is red numbers that correspond to each individual. When I look at this particular piece and begin to interpret it I start be seperating the image from the collaged elements.
When I look at the photograph alone, without the strategically placed numbers, I have thoughts of nostalgia and history. The individuals displayed are older in age, and to me, represent wisdom and experience. With that wisdom and experience, however, also comes a feeling of curiousity and whimsy.
When I consider the addition of the red numbers my thoughts are turned in an opposite direction, one that thinks of stereotypes and expectation. By numbering each of the people in the image, the artist has negated their individuality, and made them part of a larger whole.

I liked this one because it made me laugh. It alot has meaning behind it.It makes me thikn of bad relationships turning good, and good relationships turning bad.I don't really know why, but somethign about it makes me drawn to it.
I chose the picture, "This is your Captain Speaki"
I think its a little bit ironic that there is a wrecked old boat laying in the foreground when the subject is a new boat that is about to be bombarded with a bomb. So soon the brand new boat will look no better than the old one laying by the shore. Thats all I got, B+ maybe?

This image is very interesting to me because the cartoon guy in it seems so out of place. The bathroom is all matching and the style of it looks like its from a long time ago. The image itself looks like a polaroid and looks old. The guy in the bathroom looks like he's the ring leader of a circus. It makes you wonder why he was put in there and what is he doing.
I chose the picture of the cartoon guy with bowling.
I liked this picture because its so random and funny since the cartoon guy throwing the bowling ball to the real car. i really like the city pictures which its pretty match with those cartoon dude in it. also it looks like this cartoon dude is a evil person like trying to destory the city. the bowling ball is like his attack or something like that. yeah its pretty interesting picture thought. :]

The image that I have chosen is a polaroid image os a studio setup at one of his shows I guess. I really do not know what else to say because I really do not like all of the colage type of art I think that if you can do it successfully all of the more pwer to you, but for me it is just too scattered.

This image has people in the background sitting at a table, and a cartoonish looking black and white image of a lady sitting at a table in front of the people eating what looks to me like pasta. I picked this one because it reminds me of old Italy, and I love pasta! I also think that this image is one of the few where the black and white image seem to work well together with the color image.

Sorry about the lateness! This picture that I chose is of a city burning away with buldings and flames covering the background of the image. Then infront of this deteriorating city is a helpless, scared, and confused infint with the saying sorry over his/her head.
I picked this image beacuase it's funny in the sense that even though the baby went all exorcist on the city and basically destroyed it, you cant get mad at him/her because he is once again "a baby" which didnt know any better. My little cousins constantly break things but I have to try my hardest not to go all SATIN on them because their only three. Everyone goes through it, and most of the time people choose just to punish their kid with a simple saying no. I would beat that little brat though becuase I dont know him and he didnt break a toy or glass object but took out a whole city, it looks like. But ooh well.... kids will be kids.
